Leopard 1A5
The Leopard 1A5 is the final, most highly modernised production variant of the original Leopard 1 main battle tank family. Introduced in 1987, it was developed by West Germany to bridge the gap as the heavier Leopard 2 entered full service. Rather than building new hulls from scratch, the 1A5 was created by taking 1,225 existing Leopard 1A1A1 tanks and heavily rebuilding their turrets to incorporate advanced, digital technologies directly inherited from the Leopard 2.
Much like its successor, the Leopard 1A5 has found a major 21st-century role in Eastern Europe. Financed via a joint venture by Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands, upwards of 120 to 150 refurbished surplus units (predominantly the Danish Leopard 1A5DK standard)
Given its paper-thin armour, it was from traditional front-line assault roles. Instead, it has been repurposed into a remarkably effective tactical mobile artillery and sniper system
Standard in 15mm, scalable to 28mm
