The FV4034 Challenger 2 is a British third-generation main battle tank (MBT). Developed by Vickers Defence Systems (now Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land), it entered service with the British Army in 1998 and earned a reputation as one of the most heavily protected and survivable tanks in the world.

Unique among modern NATO main battle tanks, the Challenger 2 is armed with the 120 mm L30A1 rifled tank gun. While other Western nations transitioned to smoothbore barrels, the UK opted to maintain a rifled barrel to fire high-shattering HESH (High-Explosive Squash Head) rounds alongside advanced APFSDS kinetic darts. It famously holds the record for the longest-range tank-to-tank kill in military history (achieved at over 4 km during the Gulf War with a Challenger 1)

The turret and hull are layered with highly classified second-generation Chobham composite armour (codenamed Dorchester). This design creates exceptional defence against both kinetic energy penetrators and tandem-charge anti-tank missiles.

Standard in 15mm, scalable to 28mm
