T90-A
The T-90A (popularly known as the "Vladimir") is a Russian main battle tank that entered production in 2004 as a heavily modernized variant of the base T-90, which itself evolved from the T-72 platform. It is recognisable by its distinctive welded hexagonal turret (replacing the older cast turrets) and its prominent "red eyes"—the dual infrared emitters belonging to the Shtora-1 electro-optical active jammer system designed to disrupt incoming anti-tank guided missiles.
In modern conflicts, the T-90A has transitioned from being one of Russia's premier frontline assets to a high-profile casualty of modern anti-armour warfare. Its performance on the battlefield has significantly reshaped global perspectives on tank survivability.
